Bethany Lerch is a native of Oshkosh, Wisconsin, where she studied International Studies until 2009. She went on to receive a Fulbright to teach English in Koblenz, Germany, before also receiving a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship to pursue graduate work at the University of Saint Andrews in Scotland. Afterwards, Bethany returned home to build Rotaract Oshkosh, a young professionals’ service organization, and volunteer at animal and social welfare organizations in northeast Wisconsin.
In 2013-2014, Bethany was an Assistant Lecturer of American Studies at the University of Leipzig in Germany. For three months in 2014, she also taught English and social responsibility to girls grades 3-8 in Nablus, Palestine. Most recently, Bethany was a Military Advisor in Kabul, Afghanistan, for 16 months. She began as a Gender Integration and Resource Management trainer for Coalition personnel. Later she moved on to become a Content Manager and Consultant for an off-base US government initiative working directly with Afghans.
